Oleksandra Pavliv (PR-01 Philology student) under the guidance of Oksana Brovkina (senior lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology) took part in the II International Scientific-Theoretical Conference «Advanced Discoveries of Modern Science: Experience, Approaches and Innovations”. It was held on October 29, 2021 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

On Wednesday (10 November, 15:35), an online lecture "PhD Thesis Defense. Differences between Defense in One-Time Boards (New Rules) Compared to Permanent Boards (Old Rules)" took place at the Department of Germanic Philology.

In honour of this solemn day on November 9, teachers and students of the Department of Germanic Philology (Olena Nazarenko and group PR-91/1, Anna Zinchenko, Antonina Prokopenko, Iryna Ushchapovska with group PR-12/2 and others) wrote a radiodictation of the national unity. The text was read by Yurii Andrukhovych (Ukrainian writer).

On the 30th of October, The School of European Languages ​​reopened its doors to students who want to improve their communication skills in English and German. The club is guided by Olena Nazarenko and Antonina Chepeliuk (lecturers of the Department of Germanic Philology). Sumy and Sumy region pupils of 8-11 grades gladly joined this solemn event.

Oleksandra Kucheruk (Master's student of the specialty "Philology") was awarded a personal Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine scholarship for the 2020/2021 academic year.

During October within the students' club of linguistic and cultural studies "Travel Office" under Olena Nazarenko (lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology), 1st year philology students had a series of meetings with SumDU graduates who currently live, study or work in Germany.

Olesia Yehorova (PhD in Philology, Associate Professor) successfully completed advanced training within the virtual professional development programme “Digital Google Instruments for Higher and Professional Higher Educational Establishments”, which was joined by 10000 participants from Ukraine. The course was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the help of Google Ukraine for widening of possibility of the digital instruments' usage in distance education. The basic training platform was the Academy of Digital Development.

An online meeting of SumDU translators with Alina Shevchenko (a graduate in Philology), who works as a senior specialist of the Kusum Pharm Quality Control Department, took place on 18 October 2021.

Linguists of the Department of Germanic Philology took an active online part in the International Scientific-Practical Conference "Innovative Technologies in Teaching Foreign Languages and Learner Assessment in Online Education" of the Chirchik State Pedagogical Institute (Uzbekistan), sharing their own achievements and experience with foreign colleagues.

On 12 October 2021, the NTSA IFSK SumDU held an online lecture on anti-plagiarism, journal specialization and indexation.

Participants acquired new knowledge about academic plagiarism and its varieties in articles, course and qualification projects. The StrikePlagiarism system was introduced for checking texts on uniqueness and references. Similarity coefficients and their limits were analyzed for future defence of research works.
