In April, Oksana Brovkina (senior lecturer at the Department of Germanic Philology) was trained in the course "Research Design: Inquiry and Discovery». The course was offered by the organization "European Academy of Sciences and Research" to expand usage of various scientific research methods and to increase efficiency of educational process. According to results, the lecturer was awarded a certificate.

Oleksandra Pavliv, a student majoring in Philology, won the first place in a competition.
The National Aviation University annually holds the Interuniversity Competition for Young Translators at the Department of English Philology and Translation (the Faculty of Linguistics and Social Communications). In the second round, Oleksandra was offered to translate the poetic work from English into Ukrainian. The results were announced on April 22. Also, winners read poetic translations at the meeting.

The 4th-year SumDU philology students met with Alina Severyn, a former graduate and now a director of the Greenland Language School. The event was held online within the discipline "Methods of Foreign Language Teaching". It was organized by Anna Zinchenko and Svitlana Baranova.

The Department of Germanic Philology organized a virtual mobility program with Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (Nabua, Philippines). It was attended by 52 Ukrainian and 61 Filipino students. Coordinator from SSU was Alla Krasulia (PhD in Pedagogy, Vice Dean for International Relations, Senior Lecturer).

Higher education in Germany and scholarship programmes – an online meeting on this topic was held today by the student's club of linguistic and cultural studies "Travel Office" (9 February 2022). The guest of honor was Anna Melai (a SumDU stakeholder, a graduate student of the Department of Germanic Philology and Otto Friedrich Universität Bamberg, a teacher of the German IT language). She currently lives and works in Germany.

"Another important stage of my self-improvement is over… Well, studying was interesting, but I wondered whether I could manage to do it. There was a great deal of work to do (translations, reports, presentations, individual assignments)", ⎯ says Yurii Chaika, an extramural graduate, sharing his experience of studying at SumDU. Viktoriia Zakusylo, a postgraduate student of the Department of Germanic Philology, received a scholarship from the Lithuanian government and spent the autumn semester for study at Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania) on the programme "Sociolinguistics and Multilingualism".
