Sumy State University is increasingly becoming a center of the European values and standards in Ukraine. It is important to receive good news about victories on all fronts for our country, especially in this difficult wartime. We have received a record number of projects again: now 11 (in 2021 – 10, in 2020 – 7) from the Jean Monet direction of the EU Erasmus+ programme!

Thus, out of 92 projects of the Jean Monet direction, recommended for financing in Ukraine, 11 are achievements of Sumy State University.

The Department of Germanic Philology sincerely invites you to our friendly student family. This year you can enroll in the Master's degree in the specialty 035 Philology "Germanic Languages and Literatures (Translation Included), English as the First Language" until 15 September 2022 after passing the Common Entrance Exam. Despite the military situation in our country, lecturers of the Department of Germanic Philology actively work in various directions to expand the circle of potential employers.

Dear graduates of the Philology speciality! We sincerely congratulate you on the successful completion of your studies and your Bachelor's diplomas!

In June 2022, lecturers of the Department of Germanic Philology completed advanced training courses that began in February 2022 but were suspended because of the martial law.

The participants improved their skills under the programme "Distance Learning Technologies at Sumy State University". They were awarded the certificates.

On 30 June 2022, a long-term cooperation agreement between Sumy State University (Ukraine) and Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania) was signed online. The signatories were chancellors: Vasyl Karpusha (Sumy State University) and Yevhenius Valatka (Kaunas University of Technology).

Being in the Republic of Poland, Nataliia Balakirieva (a deputy director of the Translation Training and Resource Center "LinguoStar", a specialist at the Department of Germanic Philology) studied and received an A1 Polish Language Competence Certificate with the result "Excellent" at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.

Personal opinion of translation students about the Philology speciality

A meeting for everyone who wants to get the Master's degree in "Germanic Languages and Literatures (Translation Included)" was held on 6 June 2022. Bachelor graduates of 2021–2022 and graduates of previous years (in any major and level of education) were invited to the meeting.

The supervisor was Inna Sypchenko (responsible secretary of the SSU Admission Committee).

The participants of this meeting learned about the advantages of Master's education as well as conditions of the admission campaign during the martial law in Ukraine.
