A video meeting with Anastasiia Naumenko (a 3rd-year student of the Department of Germanic Philology) took place on 25 November 2022. It was held within the Travel Office Club by Olena Nazarenko and Antonina Prokopenko.

Anastasiia was glad to share her experience of moving, adapting and living in the United States. She talked on benefits and disadvantages of American life and local study opportunities.

The Department of Germanic Philology joined the international grant project "Ukraine Digital: Ensuring Academic Success in Times of Crisis". It is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

The main aim of this project is to create lasting connections between German and Ukrainian higher education institutions. The program goal is digitization of German and Ukrainian universities with the prospect of developing joint virtual courses. The project is implemented in close cooperation with lecturers from the partner University of Duisburg-Essen.

Since 2012, the Department of Germanic Philology annually holds the Alter Ego contest. It is arranged to attracting young people to scientific and practical activities in linguistics and translation, to establish creative contacts, to expand scientific ties between young people in different regions of Ukraine.

On 25 November 2022, the current Alter Ego winners were announced in four nominations: "Poems in Ukrainian", "Literary Translation from English", "Literary Translation from German", "Poems in English or German".

This year, over 120 works were sent from Ukrainian students and pupils.

The XII All-Ukrainian Student Scientific and Practical Conference "Translation Innovations" was held at Sumy State University. The purpose is letting future translators and philologists share their translation experience and present own linguistic research.

Scientific theses were presented by bachelors, masters and PhD students of the Department of Germanic Philology. Besides, there were participants from other Ukrainian institutions. Theses were dedicated to various linguistic topics. Information was thorough and concise. Many interesting questions and relevant answers show the high professional level of speakers.

On 18 November 2022, an awarding ceremony for winners of the competition «The Best Student-2022» was held at the SumDU Congress Center. Karyna Vedmydera (a student of the Department of Germanic Philology) won in the nomination «Scientific Academic Mobility».

Oleksandra Pavliv (a third-year student, group PR-01) got the diploma as a recipient of the scholarship of the Sumy Regional State Administration Head.

Yuliia Ishchenko (a 3rd-academic-year student of the Department of Germanic Philology) was awarded a certifficate to confirm the B1 German language level.

Being in Germany, Yuliia chose the TELC test. The TELC GmbH company cooperates with the federal government in language testing for integration courses. If you apply for a German passport, the proof of required language skills can be provided through a TELC certificate.

On 5 November 2022, the School of European Languages under Olena Nazarenko and Antonina Chepelyuk (members of the Department of Germanic Philology) opened again for English and German learners. Among visitors, there were pupils, students, Sumy and oblast residents.

The first meeting was launched by Antonia Chepelyuk.

My name is Anna Chudnivets. I am a PR-91 student of the Department of Germanic Philology. On 25 June - 25 August 2022, I tried myself as an intern student in Canada under the Mitacs program.

I will remember this internship for the rest of my life as a wonderful time spent with benefits and fascinating people. For three months, I have been at the University of Ottawa as a research fellow and was able to cooperate with representatives of different countries. I gained useful experience in scientific and everyday life.

On 9 November 2022, lecturers and students of the Department of Germanic Philology wrote the national unity radiodictation.

The all-Ukrainian unity dictation is held annually on 9 November. An important national holiday, first established in 1997, is celebrated on this day. It is called the Ukrainian Literacy Day.

Lecturers and students of the Department of Germanic Philology from Sumy State University took part in a virtual trip to the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT). The event was organized on 21 October 2022 at the invitation of Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania).

About 50 philology students and department lecturers (Alla Krasulia, Olesia Yehorova, Iryna Ushchapovska) participated here.
