The Department of Germanic Philology organized a virtual mobility program with Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (Nabua, Philippines). It was attended by 52 Ukrainian and 61 Filipino students. Coordinator from SSU was Alla Krasulia (PhD in Pedagogy, Vice Dean for International Relations, Senior Lecturer).

The importance of higher education cannot be overestimated if it goes about a modern graduate who succeeds and wants his knowledge and skills to be best-fit for modern employers' demands.

Students majoring in Philology are aware of their future and realize the advantages the Master's degree in Philology offers.

The Department of Germanic Philology congratulates Iryna Ushchapovska (PhD in Philology, Senior Lecturer) on conferring the academic title of Associate Professor!

We wish her new scientific achievements, realization of creative plans and inspiration!

Higher education in Germany and scholarship programmes – an online meeting on this topic was held today by the student's club of linguistic and cultural studies "Travel Office" (9 February 2022). The guest of honor was Anna Melai (a SumDU stakeholder, a graduate student of the Department of Germanic Philology and Otto Friedrich Universität Bamberg, a teacher of the German IT language). She currently lives and works in Germany.

"Another important stage of my self-improvement is over… Well, studying was interesting, but I wondered whether I could manage to do it. There was a great deal of work to do (translations, reports, presentations, individual assignments)", ⎯ says Yurii Chaika, an extramural graduate, sharing his experience of studying at SumDU. He received a Master's degree in Philology.

Viktoriia Zakusylo, a postgraduate student of the Department of Germanic Philology, received a scholarship from the Lithuanian government and spent the autumn semester for study at Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania) on the programme "Sociolinguistics and Multilingualism".

Iryna Ushchapovska (senior lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology) interpreted from English into Ukrainian at the events with Estonian delegation representatives headed by Kaimo Kuusk (the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to Ukraine).

The SumDU TOEFL Testing Centre, functioning within the Translation Training and Resource Centre “LinguoStar” at the Department of Germanic Philology, has received a certificate that grants holding the International Language TOEFL Exam and training the applicants in 2022.  

Modern students understand the vital role of higher education in today's world. It develops person's mental abilities, broadens mind, forms skills of professional and personal success. We have to remember that the world around us is constantly changing and demands new knowledge and experience.

Lately, the Master in Philology students were awarded diplomas at the Department of Germanic Philology. Because of the COVID-19 epidemiological situation, the ceremony was held in a limited format.
