On 30 Spetember 2021 (International Translation Day), the Department of Germanic Philology held a lecture "Literary Translation: Adequacy vs Style. Plagiarism in Translated Works".

On September 30 of every year, translators around the world celebrate International Translation Day.

Translators undeniably have one of the best and coolest jobs in the world. They are communication heroes and language warriors. They bridge gaps, connect cultures and create a more tolerant world by being more tolerant themselves thanks to their exposure to many different languages, cultures and backgrounds.

On 23 September, the "Travel Office" club under Olena Nazarenko and Olha Shumenko organized a meeting of second-year students majoring in "Philology".

Alla Krasulia, lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology, has won the 2020-2021 contest “IT Innovations for Modern ICT4EDU Education”. She has been awarded a winner diploma (I place) in the nomination “AI Educational Implementation, Current Software Usage” for her work “AI Application for Foreign Language Learning and Translation Teaching”.

In summer, lecturers Oksana Brovkina and Iryna Ushchapovska took part in conferences, trainings and improved their knowledge at special courses.

Karyna Vedmydera, student of the specialty "Philology", got a scholarship from the head of Sumy Regional State Administration among students of higher and professional education institutions.

In summer, Alla Krasulia and Iryna Kobiakova, lecturers of the Department for Germanic Philology, participated in the Fifth International Conference "Implementation of European Standards within Ukrainian Education Research". Respective certificates were awarded to them.

Summer 2021 appeared to be exciting and fruitful for Diana Movchan, an associate professor. She attended an advanced training “Einsatz der deutschsprachigen Periodika im DaF Unterricht” (“Using Periodicals at German Language Classes”). Here, such issues were learned as the importance of applying the press in linguistic and cultural studies, digital media innovations and German language improvements. The lecturer got a corresponding certificate.

SumDU students of group PR-92 spent summer vacation usefully, improving their language knowledge in Germany. Future linguists worked and gained experience in a German-speaking environment, saw sights, mastered dialectical speech, advanced their proficiency in culture-oriented linguistics. Thus, they became more competitive in the employers' market.

Svetlana Ermolenko, a senior lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology, participated in summer online workshops on relevant German country study topics. They were arranged by the FREUNDSCHAFT KENNT KEINE GRENZEN foundation. The participant was awarded international certificates.
