On 23 September, the "Travel Office" club under Olena Nazarenko and Olha Shumenko organized a meeting of second-year students majoring in "Philology".

The meeting was held online, and the guest was Sabrina Hamitouche, a student of the Academy of Contemporary Music (London, UK). For almost two hours, the girl talked to future translators sharing information about Great Britain's capital. Ms. Sabrina conducted a master class on modern British pronunciation and dialects to improve the pronunciation skills of SumDU translation students, which made a great impression on them. After all, the correct pronunciation is a key to success of future graduates among employers!

The English lady interested everyone with stories about herself and traditions of her city. From the girl's perspective, every nation brings a piece of its traditions to the foreign culture. So, everyone speaks different languages, and in different parts of London some dialects differ from each other. Still, in English-speaking, and not only, countries it is essential to have correct pronunciation. A significant role for successful employment is played not by the American but by the British accent. The guest emphasized that these are two completely different pronunciations. And to develop pronunciation correctly, Sabrina advised several films in English. They are "The Crown", "Killing Eve", "Downtown Abbey". The girl, from her own experience, said that the most effective method of learning English is watching various movies, cartoons or shows with subtitles and listening to songs. Also, she advised using online and web platforms to meet native speakers and practice your English communication skills.

For students, meeting with Sabrina was another boost. With her speech, excellent diction and valuable advice, the girl inspired them to learn and practice English even more, know themselves in this field and work on their pronunciation. This will be definitely an impact for future translators to achieve new goals and help them get decent jobs.
