On April 15th Head of the Foreign Languages Department, Nataliia Tatsenko, and lecturers of the Department of Germanic Philology Olha Zhulavska and Anna Zinchenko had an incredible opportunity to listen to Zoltán Kövecses, a worldwide researcher in the field of cognitive linguistics.

 On March 14, students of specialty «Philology» and lecturers of the Department of Germanic Philology Olena Medvid, Galyna Chulanova and Olena Nazarenko attended an online meeting with an experienced freelance translator Mrs. Lillian Hunter, who has lived in London for many years and is engaged in her favorite business.

Our congratulations to PhD in Pedagogy, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Germanic philology Alla Krasulia on been elected to the staff of foreign peer-reviewed scientific journal Global Research and Development Journals (GRD Journals) editorial board. We wish her professional success, inspiration and implementation of all her research ideas!

The student of the Department of Germanic Philology  Kateryna Avdiievska took part in students` on-the-job training by Women in Localization Ukraine and ProZ.com, the aim of which was to do a complete cycle of interpretation and localization from English into Ukrainian of one of the courses on the site ProZ.com.

The third-year student of the specialty "Philology"  Nataliia Ivanova  took part in the championship of Ukraine on bench press among all age groups, which took place in Khmelnytskyі on April 3rd – 9th.

Professor Svitlana Shvachko and Professor Iryna Kobyakova honorably represented the Department of Germanic Philology on the international scientific arena, having featured a cooperative research “Comprehension of speech-generating function integration in modern linguistic studies” as a section of a collective international monograph “Innovative pathway for the development of modern philological sciences  in  Ukraine  and  EU  countries” (the city of Riga, Latvia) and obtained the international certificates.

We congratulate Anna Zinchenko, assistant of the Department of Germanic Philology, SumDU on a successful defense of the thesis and acquiring the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (specialty 10.02.04 - Germanic languages).

Students’ club of  linguistic and cultural studies “Travel Office”, led by lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology Olena Nazarenko, always gives students the opportunity to communicate with interesting guests and get good practical advice on work, study and travel first hand.

Linguists of the Department of Germanic Philology took an active online part in the international scientific-practical conference "Languages ​​and the World: Research and Teaching" of the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​of Volodymyr Vynnychenko Central Ukrainian State
Pedagogical University, sharing their own achievements and experience with Ukrainian and foreign colleagues.

Сollective monograph "Moduses of modern translation studies" shows a wide range items of translation studies, including language, sociolinguistic and translation parameters; translation of poetic works; translation analysis; standardization and codification of modern scientific terminology; nationally marked vocabulary; language game; translation of nominative and communicative units. Modern linguistics integrates various humanities and scientific and technical knowledge, creating new horizons for human cognitive activity. Recently, translation studies have focused mainly on the study of extralinguistic factors that affect the effectiveness of communication. The proposed monograph will be of interest to philologists, linguists, students, postgraduates and readers interested in the functioning of language and speech.
