The Master student Yuliia Lazutkina took the first prize in the XIV Students’ Translation Competition “Fiction Literature in the World Culture” , set by the Department of Germanic and Romance Philology and Translation of Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University.
“I’m grateful to my lecturers from the Department of Germanic Philology  for the skills of poetry translation. #SumDU_translators proved again that they are the best” – said Yuliia. The student managed to create an exquisite Ukrainian translation of Rudyard Kipling’s poem “The Glories”.

During the predefence of Bachelor papers by students of specialty Philology, they met with a member of the Expert Employers Board, Director Commercial of JSC "Sumyoblenergo" Andrii Chuiko.  The Director expressed words of sincere gratitude to the Head of the Department of Germanic Philology, Professor Iryna Kobyakova and the Secretary of the Expert Employers Board,

On May 30th the second graduates of the Czech language course at the Translation Training and Resource Center «LinguoStar» of Sumy State University have got their certificates.
The participants completed the study, passed the exam excellently and received certificates, which prove knowledge of the Czech language at the level A1. Satisfied students received certificates and expressed their desire to continue studying on a new level the next academic year.

Students-translators under the supervision of Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology Olha Shumenko continue to conquer the world of science. 4th year students Anna Artemiuk (Liverpool, Great Britain), Polina Kashenko (Osaka, Japan), Iryna Zabolotna (Vancouver, Canada), Liza Arkhipova and Anna Beliakova (Sofia, Bulgaria)  have had the approbation of their scientific researches.

Professor, Head of the Department of Germanic Philology Iryna Kobyakova and  Professor Svitlana Shvachko took part in the IV International Conference "Computer Linguistics and Intelligent Systems" (CoLInS 2020) - indexed database Scopus, which took place on April 23-24 at the Department of Information Systems and Networks of the Institute of Computer Science and information technologies of Lviv Polytechnic Institute.

4th-year students of the Specialty Philology have become the winners of the All-Ukrainian competition of student research works in Sociolinguistics (2019-2020 academic year) according to the resuhttps://gf.sumdu.edu.ua/en/academic-procces/bachelor-s-degree.htmllts of the first stage of II round, held at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
Alona Kovalenko, student of the group PR-61, has received the third-degree diploma for the presented research work «Suggestive signs of native advertising in English-speaking blogging-space: the gender approach» (research supervisor - Associate Professor Olesia Yehorova).
