On March 19-20, the Department of Germanic Philology of SumDU held the XI All-Ukrainian students’ scientific conference «Translation Innovations» online. The proceedings of the conference include the works of 8 higher educational institutions of such cities as Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Lutsk, Kropyvnytskyi, and also Batumi (Georgia). Moreover, the conference was attended by employers and stakeholders who chose the best students for themselves.

82 participants published their works in the conference proceedings. The total number of participants was around 100 students. Professor, Head of the Department of Germanic Philology Iryna Kobyakova welcomed everyone to the conference and pointed out that it is an important step to science and experience, which will help future interpreters and translators to get a job in the future. The Dean of the Faculty FPSC Olena Sushkova  and Professor,  Doctor of Philology Svitlana Shvachko joined the congratulations.

Among the mainly 4th year students' works, the first scientific research works were presented by the second year #SumDU_translators of the group PR-91 Hlafira Mazur  and Alina Serdiuk, who willingly took part in the conference.

- I believe it's a great opportunity to try your hand at scientific research and get a bonus in your own portfolio, - Alina shared her impressions. The scientific field is a new, challenging but really interesting field for me personally, which appeals to me because of the possibility of new discoveries.

The conference focused on the outstanding problems of translation studies, modern linguistics and literary studies. The conference was divided into five sections such as: language picture of the world and intercultural communication, discourse linguistics: linguistic features, current issues of applied and cognitive linguistics, translational studios: traditional and innovative approaches and methods, insighting the works of the itinerant thinker Hryhorii Skovoroda in translations.

To conclude the event the Vice Dean for Education, Olena Medvid pointed out that this is just the beginning of the research activities, most students' work should be published in professional journals in Ukraine and take part in international competitions.
