On 10 April 2023, Iryna Uschapovska (senior lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology) gave a guest lecture on the topic "Language and Sustainable Development". It was attended by students of the Department of Tourism and Humanities of the International European University (Kyiv).

There were 154 visitors: students (European School of Business, Vinnytsia Humanitarian and Pedagogical College), colleagues from the International European University and other institutions.

Svitlana Danylchenko (PR-92 Philology student) under the guidance of Oksana Brovkina (senior lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology) took part in the IV International Scientific and Theoretical Conference "Theoretical and Practical Scientific Achievements: Research and Results of Their Implementation". It was held on 7 April 2023 in Pisa, Italy.

Yulia Lazutkina, a graduate of the Philology specialty of Sumy State University, published her first book for children "Corsair, or a Fluffy Story with Claws". The work presentation took place on 8 April 2023 at the Knyharnia Ye bookstore. This is not the first work by the young writer: one of Yulia's poems is included into the textbook for the 5th-7th grades "Modern Literature of the Native Land". It is recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for educational use.

Members of the Department of Germanic Philology actively attended the online educational platform "Understood!".

"Understood!" is a free online education opportunity for citizens, state and local authorities, educators, pupils, students, and generally everyone who is interested in self-development and new skills. The platform was created by the Eastern Europe Fund at the СОVID-19 beginning. Then, there was a need to provide free online public courses.

Olesia Yehorova, Antonina Prokopenko and Anna Zinchenko (lecturers of the Department of Germanic Philology) successfully presented their research "Towards a typology of humorous wartime tweets: The case of Ukraine 2022" in the European Journal of Humor Research.

It has received the international recognition among such disciplines as cultural studies (Q1) and linguistics (Q2). The journal is currently indexed in 17 international bases (Scopus, Scimago, ERIH Plus, DOAJ, CNKI Scholar, etc.).

On 28-31 March 2023, the XII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Actual Issues of the Development of Science and Ensuring the Quality of Education" was held in Italy. Among participators, there were Olha Shumenko (an associate professor of the Department of Germanic Philology) and Diana Pravdiuk (a Philology student). The initiative was supported by the Employers' Board.

Kateryna Kolodiazhna (a SumDU Philology student) under the guidance of Oksana Brovkina (a senior lecturer at the Department of Germanic Philology) took the 2nd place at the All-Ukrainian Vitalii Keis Contest of Shakespeare Studies for Young Researchers.

The contest is an annual to popularize the legacy of William Shakespeare, to identify talented youth and to stimulate students' research and creative activity. The event is traditionally organized at Zaporizhzhia National University. This year, the competition brought together over 60 participants from 20 higher education institutions of Ukraine.

On 23 March 2023, Ms. Victoria Hamitouche (Head Teacher, Gumley House FCJ Secondary School, London) was invited as a stakeholder to the PR-12/1 lesson "Practical Translation from English". The event was supported by Olha Shumenko. It matched the project "The State of Involvement of Employers, Practitioners, Industry Experts in the Organization and Implementation of the Educational Process".

Senior lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology Iryna Ushchapovska was invited to the First Regional Educational Forum "Vectors of European Quality and Success" as a speaker. This event took place on 16 March 2023 at the International European University.

The forum purpose was to meet education experts, to plan joint project activities and to identify new areas of cooperation between institutions.

On 8 March 2023, "Travel Office" (under Olena Nazarenko) welcomed Liubov Taiachi (Taran). She is the START company founder, a stakeholder and a Philology graduate.

Students of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years came to meet Liuba. Besides, guests were Vladyslava Kulish and Iryna Tkachenko, Antonina Chepeliuk and Vitalii Stepanov. Visitors learned about real opportunities for professional development in Germany.
