On 15 March 2024, Sumy State University hosted an awarding ceremony for the winners of the poetry translation contest "Alter Ego". It was held by the Department of Germanic Philology at Sumy State University. Winners were determined in 4 nominations, namely: poems in Ukrainian, poetic translations from English and German, poems in English or German. It should be noted that this year more than 145 works were sent to the competition by authors – students and pupils from all corners of Ukraine (from Prykarpattia to Slobozhanshchyna).

The jury included Svitlana Baranova – PhD, associate professor (chairman), Svitlana Shvachko – DSc, professor, other representatives of the Department of Germanic Philology and the Department of Journalism and Philology.

According to the results, the authors who won the prizes were awarded.

Nomination "Poems in Ukrainian":

1st place - Bohdana Bondarenko (Kyiv National Linguistic University)

2nd place – Polina Serhiienko (Kyiv National Linguistic University)

3rd place – Alina Mural (Novoshyn gymnasium of the Vyhoda settlement council)

 

Nomination "Literary translation from English":

1st place - Victoria Ivasikiv (Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University)

1st place - Olha Nikoliuk (Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University)

 

2nd place - Daryna Shcherbak (Sumy State University)

2nd place – Vlada Druzd (Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University)

 

3rd place- Oleksandra Marynychenko (Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University)

3rd place – Svitlana Parybka (Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Cherkasy National University)

 

Nomination "Literary translation from German":

1st place - Karina Vedmydera (Sumy State University)

2nd place - Daryna Timchenko (Sumy State University)

3rd place – Hlafira Koval (Sumy State University)

 

Nomination "Poems in English or German":

1st place - Sofiia Kryvoshapova (Kherson State University)

2nd place – Anastasiia Koval (Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Cherkasy National University)

3rd place – Polina Ratkina (Zaporizhzhia National University)
