On 14 February 2024, the Travel Office under the guidance of Olena Nazarenko (a lecturer at the Department of Germanic Philology) hosted an exciting online event. Kadine Saraiva de Carvalho (MA in Linguistics and Literature, doctoral student in the PhD program in Linguistics and Literature at the University of Santa Cruz do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) shared her experience of studying and everyday life with bachelor's, master's, and doctoral students majoring in Philology and lecturers Nataliia Tatsenko and Olena Ovsianko.

Brazil's landscapes are fascinating: endless beaches, majestic mountains and picturesque fields. Kadine shared a number of interesting facts about life in Brazil: reverse seasons, Christmas celebrations in summer, traditional holidays that include dancing and music. She also spoke about traditional cuisine and the matcha drink, which has become an integral part of the Brazilian culture.

Her studies have been a fascinating journey. While still studying for her bachelor's degree, she immersed herself in the world of linguistics and literature. She was so fascinated by this topic that she decided to continue her research in her master's degree by joining a university research group. As a part of the Sandwich Doctorate program, which was the final stage of her studies, she had the opportunity to live and research in the Netherlands. There, she met the professor whose articles had once inspired her to take this path. Collaborating with researchers from around the world gave her invaluable experience and broadened her horizons.
