Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications, Sumy State University, initiated virtual exchanges with the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CAS) and College of Computer Studies (CCS), Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, in the Philippinean city of Nabua. The Collaborative online international learning (COIL) project includes a virtual mobility course on English Language: Communication Strategies (SumDU) and Purposive Communication (CSPC) for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Computer Science Program. The instructors are Head of Foreign Languages Department, DSc in Philology, Ass. Prof. Nataliia Tatsenko and Assoc. Prof. Filmor J. Murillo. One more virtual mobility course blends two courses, such as Basics of Speech Communication Theory (SumDU) taught by Iryna Ushchapovska, PhD in Philology, Senior Lecturer of Department of Germanic Philology, and Introduction to Society, Language and Culture (CSPC) taught by Dr. Marlon S. Pontillas. The Coordinators of the virtual exchange are Alla Krasulia, PhD in Education, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology, Associate Dean for International Relations, Associate Head of International Academic Collaboration Group, and Filmor J. Murillo, MDC Associate Professor, Director, Center for International Linkages and Affairs, Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges.

COIL offers international learning for 60+ Ukrainian students and 100+ Filipino students. It aids in fostering intercultural sensitivity and awareness. We anticipate that students from both institutions will bond, hash out thorny matters of cultural differences, collaborate on projects with patience and kindness. Virtual mobility will help them develop curiosity about the world and a deeper understanding of their own and other cultures, as well as foster 21st century skills: communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.
