A 4th-year student of the Department of Germanic Philology Anastasiia Dorohokuplia received a third-degree Diploma in the second round of The International Competition of Student Research Papers in the specialty 035 "Philology", which took place on June 2nd at Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University (Kremenchuk).


Under the guidance of Olha Zhulavska, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology, Anastasiia, with the help of the WordSmith Tools software for finding word patterns, explored the use of non-finite verbs in English fiction, creating a corpus of texts from the following works of classical literature: "Pride and Prejudice" (Jane Austen), "Frankenstein" (Mary Shelley), "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" (Lewis Carroll), "The Tale of Two Cities" (Charles Dickens), "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" (Arthur Conan Doyle), "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (Washington Irving), "Heart of Darkness" (Joseph Conrad) and others.
The student's performance was positively assessed by the competition board, emphasizing that the research topic is interesting and relevant.
