SumDU is a co-founder and full member of the Alliance of Ukrainian Universities (Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, Ukrainian Catholic University, Kyiv School of Economics, Dnipro Polytechnic, Rivne University of Water Management, Sumy State University).

Alla Krasulia and Olena Yemelianova took part online in the training course "Global Synergy through Collaborative Online International Learning". It was held as a winter school for 29 January to 2 February 2024.

Hope Windle addressed the participants with a welcome speech. She has 18 years of COIL training experience. Provides leadership to 156 global members, bringing together 60,000 students annually in 32 countries on 6 continents. Speaks on international platforms about the value of culturally focused student team projects.

Kostiantyn Kyrychenko (head of the International Cooperation Department) told about SumDU achievements in implementing joint international online learning in the educational process.

Alla Krasulia was an invited speaker of the training course "Global Synergy through Collaborative International Online Learning" (COIL) and delivered a meaningful and interesting report "COIL: Definition, Principles and Benefits".

The participants had an opportunity to consider COIL programs. Reports dealt with:

- Effective integration strategies with a focus on multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches (Lorette Calix, State University of New York, the USA);

- Pedagogical approaches to COIL: Education based on problem- and project-oriented learning (Frederick Matte, University of Potsdam, Germany);

- Development of joint tasks, team building and dynamics in international cooperation (Anika Saxena, Hong Kong University of Education);

- Project management for COIL courses and expansion of institutional cooperation (Yulia Piskorska, the USA);

- Technological tools and platforms for COIL (Sandra Valencia, Catholic University of Manizales, Colombia);

- Intercultural aspects of global learning (Claudia Diers-Linke, Hague University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands);

- COIL development using the program logic model (Rainut Klamer, Hague University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands);

- Building empathy, equality and understanding of cultural differences, conflict resolution and overcoming difficulties (Christina Heyon Lee Munro, Community College, New York, the USA);

- Implementation of cross-cultural scenarios in COIL, a virtual exchange (Rosica Leon and Emily Kraus, DePaul University, Chicago, the USA);

- Using an evidence-based approach in development of a COIL course (Simon Hackett, Hague University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands).
