Alla Krasulia, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Germanic Philology, Faculty FPSC of SumDU, took 2nd place in the competition “ICT Innovations for Modern Education ICT4EDU 2019-2020” in the nomination “Mobile devices in the educational process (BYOD), the use of existing software products.”
The title of the author's project is “Convergence of educational technologies, pedagogy and methodology of foreign languages teaching” within the discipline “Innovative educational technologies in foreign language teaching.” The purpose of the discipline is to systematize theoretical knowledge in the psychology of learning and the formation of practical skills through the attainment experience of students-philologists in using the latest methods of foreign language teaching and the use of innovative educational technologies for the formation of digital competencies and basic methodological and pedagogical skills and abilities. A number of “soft” skills are being formed, but they are not unambiguously linked to a specific profession.

All kinds of practical tasks within the project are built using interactive technologies and online platforms, namely: Google HangoutsMeet, Trello, Graasp, Google Forms, Google Doc, etc. Students-philologists have mastered the basic principles of mobile pedagogy, carried out a comparative analysis of existing mobile applications and created their own mobile application for learning English. They also explored the advantages and disadvantages of using artificial intelligence (AI), virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) in learning a foreign language, systematized the knowledge gained in the form of interactive mind maps and amazing “flying” presentations using modern multimedia visualizations. The development of the discipline and its introduction into the educational process at the Department of Germanic Philology, Faculty FPSC of SumDU is the basis for a new pedagogical and technological trend in teaching, since the attraction of modern ICT possibilities to improve the quality of educational activities supports the image of the university in the international arena.
