Translation students received valuable practical experience from informal education. Virtually, they joined "DG Translation" within the course "Translation Practice from the English Language" (teachers Olena Nazarenko, Olena Yemelianova, Alla Krasulia) and saw how translators work in the European Commission.

The meeting was international in nature and brought together 381 participants from many countries and organizations, including Sumy State University. According to the organizers, the event aim was to research, analyze and discuss the main work aspects of European Commission translators. The discussion topic was the necessary knowledge and skills of a translator, the role of modern technologies in the work of a translator, career opportunities in translation.

Daryna Kushch, a PR-22/1 student, shares her impressions:

– The autumn online meeting "DG Translation" was an exciting journey into the translation world. The emotions and experience I received are priceless, because various aspects were covered. They talked about programs and dictionaries that can help with translation. They gave advice on employment, career growth and professional development. In addition, the topic of artificial intelligence and its impact on translation was discussed. So, I took many secrets and tips for myself, which will be definitely useful in future.

Talking to professional translators, I received interesting information about stylistics, cultural nuances and challenges. They also provided instructions on obtaining a second education and learning additional languages. Problems of simultaneous and consecutive translation were considered.

It was interesting to hear personal success stories. It inspired me to work and supported the belief that every translator is a kind of artist who skillfully works to transform words into works of art.

The atmosphere was charged with positive energy and I would also like to note the well-organized interaction between the participants, which contributed to the exchange of ideas and support.

Concluding this exciting event, I would like to add that my attitude towards translation has undergone a complete rethinking. It was not just a meeting, but a real adventure that broadened my horizons and gave me new ideas for creativity.
