On 24 November 2023, the Department of Germanic Philology held the XIII All-Ukrainian Student Conference "Translation Innovations". Participants were students and pupils from different Ukrainian cities. In addition, Tomoko Tatsumi (an associate professor at the Graduate School of Intercultural Studies at Kobe University in Japan, researcher of the Department of Language Development at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics) visited the conference.

Svitlana Baranova gave a welcoming speech and noted this is an important step in science and experience, which will help future translators in employment. Maryna Nabok and Iryna Kobyakova joined the congratulations as well.

Conference participants shared their impressions.

"I believe that this is a great opportunity to try yourself in scientific research and get a plus in your own portfolio. The scientific field is a complex but very interesting field that attracts with the possibility of new discoveries" (Anzhelika Kalchenko).

"Participation in the conference is a unique opportunity to meet and communicate with a large number of smart and creative people" (Sofiia Seliukova).

"I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to hear new interesting developments in the field of linguistics and translation studies" (Diana Pererva).

In the reports, attention was focused on the problems of translation studies, modern linguistics and literature. The conference was divided into six sections: "Linguistic picture of the world and intercultural communication", "Discourse linguistics", "Current issues of applied and cognitive linguistics", "Translation studies: Traditional and innovative approaches and methods", "Methodology of modern literary studies", "Theory and methodology of teaching foreign languages and translation".

At the end, Olena Medvid emphasized the need for such scientific meetings. Oksana Brovkina noted that this is only the beginning of scientific activity. The works should be presented in professional journals of Ukraine and take part in contests.
