On 29 September 2023, just before the International Translation Day, a meeting was held to introduce the Department of Germanic Philology to its first-year students. The event had a special meaning for the freshmen, who were explained about the value of the professional holiday and peculiarities of their chosen specialty «Philology». However, the lecturers also gladly joined the meeting: in the current conditions, such an event is a unique opportunity to meet students in a less formal setting.

After the meeting, the students were able to take part in a special quest. The locations covered both the Department of Germanic Philology in the ET building, as well as other important places at the SumDU campus. The locations were moderated by senior students of the speciality and, of course, the department lecturers. Quest developer, lecturer Anna Zinchenko, says that she intentionally chose such a format of the recreational part: getting acquainted with the campus, team building for students, face-to-face communication and, of course, entertainment.

In their meeting feedback, the first-year students shared their excitement about the interesting and unexpected way of meeting the lecturers. Moreover, they wished them inspiration and development opportunities on the upcoming holiday!
