On the occasion of the anniversary of the Ukrainian Independence and for outstanding merits in the field of higher education, Svitlana Shvachko (Academician of the Ukrainian Higher School Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology) was awarded a medal «30 Years of the Ukrainian Independence».

Under her leadership, the Translation Department (the Department of Germanic Philology today) was founded and dozens of PhD students defended their dissertations.
