On November 26th the second year #SumDU_translators of the groups PR-91 and PR-92 joined the webinar "Transcreation: another word for translation?" within the framework of the discipline "Practice of translation from the major language (English)" under the guidance of the lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology Olena Nazarenko.

The event was conducted by Nina Sattler-Hovdar, the experienced translator and transcreator from Austria, author of the books Translation — Transkreation (2016) and Get fit for the future of transcreation (2019). She was pleased to unravel the mystery of the magic word "transcreation" and told in which cases it is necessary to use it. The listeners learnt the differences between transcreation and branch or literary translation, localization or writing marketing texts at the meeting.
Mrs Sattler-Hovdar also told what skills are needed for a good transcreation and how to develop them. The students immersed themselves into a marvelous world of translation and finally plied the translator with the questions aiming to find out as much as possible about creative translation. Nina Sattler-Hovdar concluded by examples from her own experience and tips on how to communicate with customers.
