On 19 February, a new meeting of students’ club of linguistic and cultural studies "Travel Office" headed by the lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology  Olena Nazarenko took place  .
Students-translators of all years of study, lecturers of the Department and guests came to meet a graduate of specialization Translation at SumDU Yuliia Polonska Smith and Seabrook Smith in order to take advice from the USA citizens about getting a visa to America, studying at American universities and self-progression in the labour market – about how to maximise your attractiveness to employers - and about living in the country of opportunities.

Seabrook told the guests about the political and administrative structure of the USA and about the developed university system that provides foreign students with a broad range of fields of study and the opportunity to get a job according to your specialty. He also mentioned the subject of history and geographical diversity of the USA.

A representative of the Faculty FPSC alumni association, Yuliia, shared her own experience of difficulty of obtaining an American visa and gave them a few tips on passing the interview in the embassy. Yuliia emphasized that nowadays the process of getting the visa is much easier than before. But there are some things to keep in mind – such as the knowledge of the Pledge of Allegiance of the United States and several other realities.

The guests explained, that generally the education in the USA is non-free, but some of American universities give students an opportunity to study free on condition that they will actively participate in various sport competitions.

One more topic to be discussed was about foreigners’ adaptation in the new country. Seabrook and Julia avouched, that language knowledge is not enough. It is nice to have some acquaintances in the USA that will help you to get used to new conditions swiftly.

At the end of the meeting Seabrook assured all visitors, that America is always glad to acclaim brainy students, that clearly acknowledge the difficulty level of studying in the USA and are ready to work laboriously for the good of own successful future.
