On the May 15th-16th, in Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University took place the 20th jubilee meeting of the Consortium of Ukrainian universities and the University of Warsaw. At the meeting SSU was presented by Volodymyr Liubchak (Vice-rector for research and pedagogic work, international activity and technical support of SSU) and Iryna Ushchapovska (senior lecturer of the Department of Germanic philology, director of the Centre for Ukrainian-Polish cooperation).

Honoured representatives of universities from throughout Ukraine visited the event. Polish party was introduced by Katarzyna Chałasińska-Macukow, senior rector of the University of Warsaw, Jan Malicki, permanent substitute of the Head of the Consortium, and representatives of the Centre of Eastern European studies (University of Warsaw) and the Eastern Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Poland).

The Consortium between Ukrainian universities and the University of Warsaw was created on April, 12th, 2006 on the initiative of the Centre for East European Studies of the University of Warsaw (pol. Studium Europy Wschodniej Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego). For today, 15 member universities belong to the Consortium.

Consrtium activity is aimed at support of collaboration between the University of Warsaw and Ukrainian universities, experience exchange within the framework of academic mobility of academic specialists and students, executing  of common projects, promotion of development of scientific research throughout Eastern and Central Europe regions.

Jubilee meeting of the Consortium was held on May, 15th, in the main campus of pedagogical university and White-stone Hall of Castle Palace in Zbarazh.

On the meeting were presented Ivan Vyhovskyi awards for Ukrainian researchers in the humanities under the patronage of the Republic of Poland, scholarship programs for studying, internship and research practice on the base of University of Warsaw, NAWA and PROM programs. Were also raised proposals to conduct public lections of professors of the Consortium.

On May, 16th, meeting participants and also guests from Jelenia Góra took part in the International research and training conference “Prospects of Ukrainian-Polish cooperation” dedicated to the fifteenth anniversary of Poland’s accession to EU and the twentieth anniversary of its NATO membership.

Conference was held with support from Ukrainian –Polish partnership forum, General Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Lutsk, Centre for East European Studies of the University of Warsaw

At that day also was opened an exhibition of Polish incunabula of XVIII-XIX centuries from library fund of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University and was held a city tour for visitors of Ternopil.
