Anna Zinchenko (assistant lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology) participated in English video dubbing. Within cooperation between the Sumy Chamber of Commerce & Industry and European partners, several commercials about Ukrainian organic producers were created.

For Anna Zinchenko, who dubbed female parts, it was a completely new experience. She shared her impressions:

"Honestly, I have never thought video dubbing or film translation requires such a significant training! I literally ran out of air, because it was difficult to read a text according to intonations and pauses. Recently, under my supervision, Mariia Rudenko wrote a film translation thesis. We focused only on purely theoretical translation problems (without consideration of everything that happens outside the text translation). However, reading the English text in the recording room, I realized that the dubbing job could be much tougher".

Talking to the sound engineer, Anna Zinchenko also learned technical features of recording dubbed texts, synchronization of source and target texts, voice training. The new experience gave her an opportunity not only to try herself in a new translation role, but also to open new research prospects. Later, Mrs Zinchenko will discuss it with students as future translators.
