On 19 September 2022, the Department of Germanic Philology held a lecture on research project issues (course and diplom papers). Among participants, there were teachers, 4th-academic-year bachelors, masters.

The event was organized to enhance special preparation of linguists within the curriculum "Germanic Languages and Literatures (Including Translation), English as the First Language".

Students acquired new knowledge. Questions of research project defence were observed. Typical mistakes in writing a paper were described (structure and contents).

Advice was given to search for, analyze and arrange own theory and methodology basis (Scopus, online libraries, SSU Institutional Repository). Studies of department teachers were represented as potential supervisors. Rules to compile illustrating material were indicated. Thus, research possibilities of single language corpora were shown (British National Corpus, Corpus of Contemporary American English).

Peculiar attention was paid to academic integrity norms. Anti-plagiarism systems (StrikePlagiarism) were taken into account. Check report principles were learned.

The obtained knowledge will make it easier for students to enter the research world.
