On 11 November 2023, the Tübingen Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems offered various Open House activities. Olena Ovsianko (senior lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology) attended the event.
Attendants had an opportunity to learn more about institute research areas, see demonstrations in robotic labs and fascinating Capture Hall with its 4D body scanner and biology labs.

On 17 November 2023, an awarding ceremony for winners of the contest "The Best SumDU Student 2023" was held. Valentyna Rebenok (a student of the Department of Germanic philology) won in the nomination "Educational Activity – Academic Mobility".

The Department of Germanic Philology congratulates Maryna CHERNYK (PhD in Philology, Senior Lecturer) and Vladyslava KULISH (PhD in Philology, Senior Lecturer) on being awarded the academic title of Associate Professor! The official presentation of diplomas took place on 9 November 2023 at Sumy State University during the Academic Board meeting.
We wish them new scientific achievements, realisation of creative plans and inspiration!

On 7 November 2023, an exciting online event took place at the Travel Office under Olena Nazarenko. Oleksandra Derkach, a 4th year student, shared her experience of studying in the Czech Republic with the 1st and 2nd year students of the Philology specialty.

According to the Ministry of Education and Science decree, Daryna SHCHERBAK was awarded a scholarship from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
"For me, the scholarship is one of the significant achievements in my life, an acknowledgment that I have accomplished something in my scientific activity", – says Daryna.

On 4 November 2023, the School of European Languages under Olena Nazarenko and Antonina Chepeliuk hospitably welcomed visitors to improve their spoken English and German skills. This year, there were many SumDU students who decided to raise their speaking abilities.

On 1 November 2023, the Department of Germanic Philology met entrants at the Open Door Day. During the event, future students had an opportunity to communicate with department representatives. They completed assignments and received credits.
The department gave the participants a quiz on translating English phrasal verbs. After the assessment, the guests attended a meeting where they could talk to the faculty dean Olena Sushkova, department head Svitlana Baranova and student government members.

Lecturers and students of the Department of Germanic Philology took part in the National Unity Radiodictation. Traditionally, it was held on the Ukrainian Literacy Day. This year, the holiday was celebrated for the first time on 27 October.
The fest organizer is the Ukrainian Radio. The authorship of the dictation text "Roads of Ukraine" belongs to Kateryna Kalytko (a Ukrainian writer and laureate of the Shevchenko Prize). Theater and film actor Oleksiy Hnatkovsky read it.

On 19 October 2023, Sumy State University held a planned meeting of the Academic Board. Here, winners of the all-university contest "Innovations ICT for Modern Education ICT4EDU" were awarded. Oksana Brovkina (a lecturer at the Department of Germanic Philology) won. She received a diploma in the nomination "Mobile Devices in the Educational Process (BYOD), Usage of Existing Software Products" for her work "Visualization of Information with Own Mobile Devices for Successful Mastering of the German Language".
