INTERNATIONAL CONTACTS

Cooperation with international colleagues in education and science is the main focus of the international relations of the Department of Germanic Philology.

The department works closely with such known foreign scientists as Alexander Kobylarek, Jacek Hulanovski (Wroclaw University, Poland), Inta Buka (Baltic International Academy, Latvia), Eugenia A. Zhuravleva (L. M. Humilyov Eurasian National University, Kazakhstan), Marina V. Pimenova (Kemerovo State University, Russia), Valentina A. Maslova (Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov, Belarus). The department signed agreements with Baltic International Academy (Latvia), University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (Poland), Mozyr Pedagogical Institute (Belarus), Brest State University named after A. S. Pushkin (Belarus), Kemerovo State University (Russia).

The department holds Roundtables "Improvement of the higher education quality control and the Bologna process" together with the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. Meetings with the American House and the British Council are organized.

During December–February 2013–2014 Bachelor student of Dresden University Philipp Mende takes experience of teaching German and learning Russian language at the Department. In September–June 2013–2014 – volunteer from the US and Fulbright Scholar Elissa Sperling teaches English to students. In September–October 2013 – Master student from the University of Vienna (Austria) Elisabeth Lechner gains experience in teaching German and English and organizes German Club for students.

Department’s professors, associate professors and postgraduates annually present reports at the international conferences in Ukraine, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Belarus. Students have an opportunity to visit Yen, Stuttgart, Munich and Vienna by DAAD programme in order to improve the level of German language knowledge.
