Share Culture, Cultivate Peace
The second-year student of the “Translation” specialization Anastasiia Korotun has participated in the youth exchange “Youth for Peace” that from 12 to 24 June gathered 43 young people from Armenia, Georgia, Lithuania, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine, and United Kingdom. The project took place in Okhtyrka area, cottage-park “Slavna”.
The program of the exchange turned out rather eventful as the participants have practiced their skills during multiple workshops on communication, dialogue, understanding conflict, conflict transformation, human rights, peace and reconciliation. The participants gained self-confidence, self-esteem, and assertiveness, improved their self-awareness and critical thinking, as well as got inspired and motivated to act in their communities in conflict transformation and peace building. To the end of the exchange the participants organized the community action in the children’s camp “Kosmos”. The action had a quest-format with several stations, each directly relevant to the topic of peace building and conflict transformation.
As a future translator, our student had an opportunity to improve her skills in interpreting while helping some participants from the Lithuanian community. Also Anastasiia became a member of No Hate Speech movement and encourages everyone to join it.
