A third-year student-translator Mariia Rudenko became a scholar of the Erasmus+ International Academic Mobility Program in February and started her long journey in Iasi, Romania. She is now a student of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi and she shares her first impressions of studying and staying abroad.
“It was my biggest dream, and it finally cane true,” says Mariia. “A month and a half has already passed, I can’t even believe that the time is flying so fast. And it was definitely my best month in my life. For me, the word "Erasmus" is now associated with the word combination "for the first time".

For the first time I became a European university student and felt the advantages and disadvantages of education abroad, for the first time I was able to live in a dorm with people who do not understand Ukrainian at all. Erasmus studying has many benefits, the main of which is the ability to choose subjects of any year of study and from any department of your faculty; teachers treat foreign students with understanding, explain to them certain nuances of work and are always ready to help. Now that there is no way to have in-person meetings, teachers are finding alternatives - online conferences that are created with the help new technologies. It was a regular class, the only difference was that everyone was sitting in their pajamas and drinking their morning coffee during the lecture. "
Mariia also adds that, first and foremost, Erasmus is a vibrant event, fun parties, sit-ins until the late night, and a constant cycle of events happening around her.
“Unfortunately, due to quarantine events, all parties and entertainment events have been suspended, but even such an experience is a cool experience. We have the opportunity to get to know each other better, talk, and share TV shows or movies. Of course, we are looking forward to having another chance to go to a club or go to another city, but now we still find something interesting for ourselves. We hope that one day it will be over and we will still be able to experience the mad life of an Erasmus student. After all, as they say: once Erasmus - always Erasmus!”
