The first-year students Yuliia Husenko, Alina Serdiuk, Anna Chudnivets, Karyna Vedmydera, and Hlafira Mazur took part in the conference “First Step to Science”, that took place in the Conference Hall of Sumy State University, on February 23.
The students prepared their reports, led by the senior lecturers of the department of Germanic philology,  Iryna Ushchapovska and Alla Krasulia. The young scientists told about main points of comparative and historical linguistics, the highlights of structuralism as historical linguistics, the theory of information in linguistics, the perception and verbalization of non-verbal codes of space, time, and silence in different national and cultural environments, and the molodogramatysm as the main trend in linguistics in 19th-20th centuries.

"We were impressed with the fact that it was so interesting to represent our reports at the scientific conference," – the girls shared their impressions. "Now, being experienced we are ready to do further research and take part in the other conferences. All the members got a lot of new interesting information and in the end, everybody chose his or her favorite participant. We are grateful to SumDU for the opportunity to try ourselves as conference speakers and represent our scientific works."
