A 3rd-year student Alyona Tsehelnyk, participated in the volunteering project in Croatia, financed by European Union. The main objective of the “Green Fingers – Let’s Get Gardening” project was to raise awareness among elementary and middle school kids about the ecological situation in the world and the ways to prevent environmental pollution.

- I’ll remember these two months for a long time, - says Alyona. – It’s a valuable experience to live in another country, in a dissimilar environment and in a group of people who come from all around Europe. By the way, this experience is available for everyone interested in it.

There are many similar projects on different subjects. And it is not necessary to have good academic performance or previous volunteering experience.

- I always adored traveling, and here it was – a perfect opportunity to make a journey, which could be beneficial for others and myself. Especially when expenses for travel, accommodation and food are covered - tells Alyona.

- We are very fortunate to live in a time when new opportunities for self-development, travelling, and education become available, in a time when the distance to a dream can be measured not by miles but by clicks. Besides, SumDU actively supports and disseminates such initiatives. So, let's start clicking! ☺
