The IX All-Ukrainian student scientific-practical conference "Translational innovations" was held on the basis of the department of Germanic philology

The proceedings of the conference include the works of the representatives of 4 higher educational institutions, namely: Sumy State University (Sumy); Shota Rustaveli State University (Batumi, Georgia), Kyiv National Linguistic University (Kyiv) and Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Astana, Kazakhstan). As usual pupils of Sumy schools also participated in the conference.

80 participants published their reports in the collection of the conference proceedings. At the conference, the focus was on the outstanding issues of translation studies, modern linguistics, and literary criticism, reflected in the work of the following sections:

  1. Current problems of modern linguistics.
  2. Translation and intercultural communication.
  3. Discourse linguistics.
  4. Problems of stylistics and text linguistics.

Iryna Kobyakova, Professor, Head of the Department of Germanic Philology, delivered a welcoming speech and congratulated all those present on the Day of Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications and the opening of the conference, shared her enthusiasm for the high scientific level of research work of postgraduates, masters and students of the Translation specialization and pupils who plan to dedicate life to philology. Iryna Karpivna also called on young scholars to continue their difficult but interesting way into the world of science.

Deputy Dean for Research, PhD (Social Communications) Olena Yevtushenko congratulated participants on the opening of the conference and praised high scientific level of the lecturers of the department of Germanic philology and students of Translation specialization.

Professor of the department of Germanic philology, doctor of Philol. Sciences Nataliia Tatsenko notified the importance of science in professional life of future translators and proved by her own researches that science can be not only useful, but also interesting.

Olha Zhulavska, associate professor of the Department of Germanic Philology has announced the opening of the conference and noted that such annual meetings of experts will contribute to the increased level of preparation of translators, comprehension of methodological foundations of linguistics, translation studies and literary studies, exchange of experience and materials of creative works, implementation of agreements on cooperation between departments, faculties, universities (aspects of translation studies), exchange of scientific and methodological literature, joint research papers and teaching materials.

Present at the conference Svitlana Baranova, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology, PhD, Antonina Chepeliuk, senior lecturer,   Vladyslava Kulish, senior lecturer, PhD, Olena Nazarenko, lecturer at the Department of Germanic Philology, Iryna Ushchapovska, postgraduate and others actively discussed with the students their works, raised questions, recommended ideas and directions for further research by young linguists.
